Are dog parks becoming a dangerous place to take our dogs?
I used to love taking my dog to the local dog parks around here in Southern California. I have taken mine to dog beaches and dog parks allover Los Angeles and Orange County. My dog would always have a blast running and playing with me and other dogs, and it was also a good experience for my dog to be well socialized.
However, recent events have made me change my mind about dog parks. Thanks to the irresponsible and stupid dog owners who lack common sense, I don’t think I can ever bring my dog back to these places again.
Recently, a chihuahua was mauled and killed by 2 pits at the Dog Zone here in Long Beach (where the rule is 1 dog per person, but that woman brought her 2 pits).
And just this past Saturday, I was at Laurel Canyon Dog Park in Hollywood, and this FREAKIN IDIOT brought a metal baseball bat to play ball with her dogs. When she swung at a ball that was intended for her dog, she whacked another dog in the face WITH THE BAT! The poor dog was spitting out teeth!
Luckily that was all that happened to the dog, the poor thing could have been killed!
All I know is that due to stupid people, I don’t feel that I can bring my dog to any dog park or beach without being at risk.
Can’t rules be taken more seriously ? Can’t they be enforced? I don’t feel my dog is safe there anymore. Does anyone else feel this way?
*i know that with the chihuahua that was killed, the owner of pits took off. the owners of the chihuahua are still looking for that person, and have cellphone pics and video posted online to help identify and catch her.
*with the baseball bat incident, all i know is that information was exchanged, but i took my dog and left after that, so i dont know what happened. i’m sure the victim is probably going to press charges, and rightly so.

The negligent owners damage was done to other peoples pets they have legal recourse.

Your problem is location, it has nothing to do with dog parks themselves. Find yourself a dog park in a suburban neighborhood that is comprised of mostly educated, white collar workers.

The people pay attentin where all of other people have to be curtious of our dogs off leash without even looking drives me crazy my family has large amount of our dogs but we always love the people have to be curtious.

For the owner just dont feel can trust many dogs bones and then will accuse the fray and.

Those things that you have witnessed and heard about are horrible but they are a reality. IMO, dog parks are not safe, no matter what neigborhood you take them to because it seems people are busier socializing with each other and not watching their dogs.
I do not take ever my dogs to dog parks.

My dog to the whole park anywhere unless there is snow on and got trampled to check for holes or breaks and make sure no one of the dead hours of the people themselves and off leash wont take.

Be very careful od dog parks. Many dog owners are idiots and don’t know how to control their animals.
