Happy Golden (Merry Christmas!) asked:
I want to take my dogs somewhere before summer ends. Is there any places in Southern California?

There is a whole travel guide series dedicated to dog owners called The Dog Lover’s Companion . . . Either you can get their book or you can check out their website:

Me too. :o)
The beach is a great, fun place to take your dog, along with water play toys. I know that Lone Pine, Ca….near Mt Whitney (approx 3 1/2 hrs from you and I…?) was the most wonderful trip we have ever taken with Pilot!….ummm, so far! Here are some recent pictures of him that I posted earlier….in Lone Pine, Ca….Note: many of the hotels are Dog Friendly too!
At the beach…
ALSO: Did you know that you can take your dog to Fashion Island?!! Yes…….you can take your dog into EVERY SINGLE STORE in Fashion Island! Even the department stores! The outdoor fountain that has the water popping up out of different holes….you wanna take your dog to that spot!!! It’s hilarious, and they will love playing in it! Pilot went nuts over that water shooting/popping up in the air from different holes/spots!!! He drew people who just sat and watched him laughing. Pilot was the main attraction for about 15 minutes!! AND, when you go to eat at the many restaurants there, you can take your dog in to the patio areas (not inside the restaurant building). We took Pilot many times, and he sits under our chairs or between us the whole time we are there. That is a good afternoon trip for sure.

Ocean Beach
it’s laid back and very dog friendly, they have a beach area for off leash dogs
