Hi Dart,

I have read your note. In it you offered to provide more details in an email. You might have considered that for more of the body and try to hit a few highlights only in the primary question.

I have 2 other things to point out. 1st of all you mentioned a public defender was your first attorney. Yes, it is hard to have confidence there. You mentioned legal aid as a possible avenue for assistance. You could also consider what *** activist organizations are in your area or the nearest metropolitan area. They may wish to make an issue of your case. The same might be true of the ACLU.

Alternatively, in most areas attorneys are expected to do a certain amount of pro bono work. You might have to go door to door at attorney's offices to find someone like this. Contacts will help. If you qualify in their eyes they might represent you without cost. This is particularly true if there are other incentives such as defending a cause they believe in or has a certain notoriety.

Secondly, if the facts of your situation are born out you might appeal to the US attorney general in your area. Issues of corruption are difficult to deal with in the local area. One thing that this accomplishes is to take matters to the federal level and away from local courts. Another way to accomplish the same thing is to ask the courts for a change of venue (location) for any trial and pleadings. Consider that your probation officer is a part of the local system.

Your main job is to get someone to acually listen to you. You are fighting for something. You need to find someone who is fighting for the same thing or who whats to help you. Why?

Of course the entirely different approach is to start over. There are different levels of this ... a different country, harder to do without savings... a different state or county, easier to do but you may have problems with probation, or under the radar, this is rather drastic. To be effective it means severing all ties with family, existing friends and past history. To accomplish this, questions of legality may also arise other than probation issues.

Finally, there is the possibility of approaching employment from the level of person to person rather than person to company. A company will look at the numbers. They are required to for reasons of liability bla bla bla... A person might give you a break, especially if you can explain the circumstances convincingly in a way that either exhonorates you or gives you a pass in another way. This may mean accepting work other than your first choice and possibly a lower pay scale. Family or friends might be a place to start.
