Looking for more things my 14 year old son and I can do in Southern California in July?
Blondee asked:
We will be staying in LA with my cousin for 2 weeks. We are looking for more to do. We have Universal Studios, Sea World San Diego, including the DIP program, movie star home/beverly hills tours, kodak theater tour, sony tour, a movie premiere (not sure how that works though), going to Catalina Island for 3 days (kayaking, semi-sub tour, etc), and a general hospital fan event. We looked at a taping of tv shows, but the only ones available have a 16 or 18 year old age requirement. We would like to see some celebs, as do most tourists, but I know that is not guaranteed. Any suggestions on where to find them, also, other than restaurants or stores in Bevery Hills? We have been to Warner Brothers Studio Tour already.

Any suggestions on what to do and/or the best way to find/see celebs are welcomed and greatly appreciated. This is my son’s first trip to California and my second. thanks in advance!

Go to South Central or Compton. Those seem like fun places for your son’s first trip to California.

May I suggest a beach trip also? Huntington Beach is famous for being surf city-and has a great pier and area around it-including a surf museum. Of course Venice beach with its famous weightlifting area etc and the pier with rides on it in LA. Newport Beach in Orange County and esp Balboa with its fun zone and harbor cruises and nice pier. (eat at Ruby’s for breakfast or lunch at the end of the pier-Balboa or at Huntington) Check out the Costa Mesa swapmeet/open air market in Costa Mesa at the fairgrounds every weekend-it will take 2-4 hours just to walk it. Your son would love the stuff and you would too-then you can go down to the harbor in Newport area-most restaurants have sunday brunch. The harbor cruise is minimal$$ by the way and many celebs live on the water down there-catcxh a ride and tickets in Balboa’s fun zone.
