Where can we take our baby on a vacation in Southern California?
FoosMama asked:
I am planning a weekend getaway for my husband, I and our 7-month old. Are there any nice hotels in Southern California with peaceful grounds or nice nearby activities?

LA really isn’t the best place for babies. It caters more to the teenage and early 20’s crowd. But you can go to all the nice little parks here or to the Americana at Brand. There’s a cute little playground in the middle, and there’s a trolley too. It’s super cute and full of other little kids, plus there’s a bunch of nice restaurants and stores. For lunch or breakfast, I would recommend the Milk Shop on Beverly Blvd. They have a kids menu and it’s really calm and the food is awesome. As for hotels, there really aren’t many that would help entertain your baby but they’re usually quiet and peaceful so it’s all good.

Definitely head down to San Diego. You guys will have a great time at the world famous San Diego Zoo.

Zoos and Disneyland is a great place for young kids and babies. Although your 7 month old probably wont comprehend what exactly Disneyland is, but they have a lot of really slow moving rides you can carry your baby on.

San Diego is THE place to go.
First choice for the place to stay is Paradise Point (www.paradisepoint.com). The grounds are lovely, right on Mission Bay. Lots of walking area, lawns. ‘Quiet’ things you can do onsite - nice pool, fun lawn minigolf, surrey bikes, walking on the beach etc. There are also firepits on the beach where you can roast hot dogs and marshmallows. There are also boats (sunfish and motor) which probably don’t make sense for you with a little one, but they are there. The truth is - you can spend the whole weekend onsite and never be bored.
Second choice would be the Hilton Mission Bay. Also right on the water. Also many onsite activities, just not quite as quiet or nice as the PP (but also probably not as expensive).
Both hotels are near great outside activities - the Zoo (one of the best in the world); Balboa Park (great natural science museum) and SeaWorld. Most of these outside activities are obviously not going to be of much interest to your 7-month old
but they are environments where you can comfortably take him/her and enjoy it yourself. SeaWorld has a small but very good interactive playground for smaller kids which your child would love in a couple of years but there may be even a few things you can participate in now (sitting and playing with balls, for example).

Huntington Beach is a really nice place.
